Crown completes file in Aqua Sol shooting
published: Wednesday | September 24, 2008

WESTERN BUREAU:

The case file is now completed in the matter against a security guard charged with the shooting death of his colleague during an altercation at the Aqua Sol Theme Park in Montego Bay, St James, in July.

When the case against 29-year-old Dwaine Panton of Hart Street in the capital was mentioned in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Monday, the court was informed that the prosecution was in receipt of the outstanding post-mortem report.

Consequently, a preliminary enquiry date was set for October 9.

Panton, who is being represented by attorney-at-law Dalton Reid, was further remanded.

Murder charge

Panton is answering charges in connection with the murder of Blues 'Kevin' Rhodes, 24, of Rose Heights, St James.

Allegations are that the guards, who were employed to Campbell's Charter and Protective Service, were on duty at the entrance to the Aqua Sol Theme Park when they had an argument. Panton reportedly shot Rhodes before fleeing the scene. Rhodes died on the spot.
