The Editor, Sir:Despite Jamaica's worsening crime rate, ailing economy and unemployment, we should not only give thanks to our anthem - honourable "Eternal Father" but strive to do better to glorify God in our endeavours (work, prayer, etc) and to continue to seek "true wisdom from above" recognising the times in which we live, especially in light of prophecy ... "give us vision lest we perish."
We need to re-focus and attain. In last year's post-Dean 'September to remember', the pseudo-prophet Phinn may have fooled many into (still) believing that the Honourable Portia Simpson Miller would have been a winner and that Hillary Clinton would have taken her seat this year as America's first female president, but this does not invalidate the reality of true prophecy.
If the previous government administration can be liked to passing over a relay baton in this election race, the JLP inherited the shot-put ball to run with in this decathalon. And with the unprecedented fiscal meltdown of the Lehman Brothers in this September to Remember, I hope we can pole vault and then hurdle over the domino effect.
Heavenly bashment-day
Yet, like Usain Bolt in that Gleaner headlined 'Judgment Day' which carried the story 'Bolt makes pledge to beat Tyson Gay' (September - to remember - 3, 2007), let us "HONESTLY" be determined as we are in the National Pledge, to work "diligently" and thereby get more than we bargained or Laboured for when we help others along the way, so that Asafa, Michael, Nesta and the rest "a wi" can have our say - regardless of the number of stars in our golden crowns - that Heavenly bashment-day. Run Jamaican, Run! "pon more dan mixup (hybrid) fuel!" Be smart and Labour!
I am, etc,
