'One hand can't clap'
published: Tuesday | September 23, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I am glad the elections are over, but let us not forget one thing. One hand can't clap. Hon Portia Simpson Miller alone will not be able to unite, because even if she stretches out an olive branch, the other side has to be willing to take it.

You have all victimised her with your comments, but the delegates have spoken, and if truth was to be told, Solid as a Rock has remained so over the past years and has never fully embraced her. Jamaican newspapers are in contest with America to see who can get more dirty in politics and I must say I am disappointed.

The slave mentality is still alive and well with us, and you have all contributed to it. He who is strong, help the weak. Let us help to build each other, not tear down

I am, etc,

DOXIE GREEN
