Good going, Captain Burrell
published: Sunday | September 14, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I must say hats off to Captain Horace Burrell for being steadfast and resolute in trying to correct the bungling by René Simoes. He did not let friendship interfere with his professional responsibility as head of the JFF!

Simoes' team selection smacked of amateurism as he had excluded players such as Marlon King, Jamaal Campbell Royce and Damion Stewart, to name a few proven campaigners.

No schoolboy football

I guess he just loves those schoolboys whom he was pushing into the team, perhaps because they would be awed by his presence.

This is not schoolboy football but professional sports, where hundreds of millions of dollars are involved. Clear the air with these excluded players and move forward.

Well done, Captain Burrell! I salute you sir! Forward march!

I am, etc.,
