Rainy days ahead for Jamaica
published: Monday | August 25, 2008

WEATHER CONDITIONS are expected to worsen over the next two days because of a strong tropical wave over the Caribbean Sea, east of Jamaica.

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has advised that the wave continues to move closer to the island and will influence weather conditions today and tomorrow.

The eastern parishes are expected to be most affected as the system moves west.

Jamaicans living in eastern parishes should expect showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds today.

These weather conditions will spread across other parishes into Tuesday.

The Met Service is warning that heavy showers are likely and there is the potential for flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

All marine interests, especially fishers on the cays and banks, are being advised to exercise extreme caution as winds could reach near gale force by this afternoon.
