THE DEAFENING sounds of celebrations reverberated across Trelawny when favourite son, 21-year-old Usain Bolt created history at the 29th Olympics in Beijing, China. The jubilation spread from the rocky and hilly terrain of Sherwood Content to the flat plains of Water Square, Falmouth.

Olympic fever overshadows storm watch

JAMAICA WAS placed on a tropical storm watch in the midst of the country's celebrating a victory at the Olympics in Beijing, China. The Meteorological Service yesterday advised the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management that the island was on a tropical storm watch as weather conditions associated with Fay were expected to affect the island.
