Big Lalah fan!
I am one of Robert Lalah's biggest fans. I am an American who travels to Jamaica frequently. I read the Jamaica Gleaner every day but I especially look forward to Thursdays so I can read Lalah's articles.
He never fails to make me laugh hysterically. No matter how stressed I am on a Thursday, it always ends up being a great day. Thank you, Robert, and thank you editor of the Gleaner for having such a talented writer who makes me feel like I am back in Jamaica even if it's for a brief moment.

... Another view
I have for a long time enjoyed the articles written by 'Lalah'. However, the article yesterday on worship at the waterfront was in poor taste. I did not find it humorous at all.
With all the violence that is reported every day in our small island, I think we should all celebrate (rather than ridicule) these people who take the time for worship every day. At least they have the courage to speak out against immorality. Perhaps more of us should join these worshippers on the waterfront.

Cops and guns
The police should take full responsibility for those guns, whatever they are coming up with is no excuse. They have computers and other equipment to keep track of who owns what and stop using those pieces of paper and books. The world has changed, and it's time for them to employ even a civilian to do the job and have he/she properly monitored.

A life spared
I am saddened that the most important part of The Sunday Gleaner (August 10) story about a botched abortion has not been highlighted. Indeed, I had to read twice before I could confirm that there is indeed cause for great celebration in that the life of baby Smith has been spared, a life that otherwise would have been cruelly cut short.
I would hope that those near and dear to Debra Smith and her child will reach out and embrace them, and remind them, despite whatever hardship or despair they might be facing, of the hope that new life brings.
