Panday to challenge magistrate's ruling
published: Thursday | July 24, 2008

PANDAY

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, (CMC):

The bribery case against former prime minister Basdeo Panday, his wife, Oma, former government minister, Carlos John, and businessmen Ishwar Galbaransing, has been put on hold indefinitely after a High Court judge granted the Pandays leave to challenge a magistrate's ruling.

All four accused were due to appear before the magistrate on August 4.

Justice Prakash Moosai gave leave to the Pandays to file for judicial review of Magistrate Ejenny Espinet's decision not to step down from hearing the preliminary inquiry, on the grounds of bias.
