Patrick Rousseau, chair-man of SportsMax Limited says he expects to be exonerated by the contractor general's probe into the alleged granting of a licence by Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) to SportsMax. The contract is for the supply of satellite services for simulcast racing.

Rousseau is also the chairman of CTL.

The contractor general announced the investigation on Monday, but Rosseau indicated that there was nothing to hide.

"I expect he will issue a statement saying there was nothing wrong with the contract", he told The Gleaner on Monday night.

There have also been reports of irregularities surrounding the alleged proposal by SportsMax Limited to provide coverage from South Africa and the United Kingdom to CTL.

SportsMax, a Jamaican-registered corporation, operates a Caribbean sports cable channel, while CTL is a public body.

In a press release Monday, the Office of the Contractor General (OCG) said the decision to start the investigation was formally communicated to CTL's chief executive officer, Walford Brown, last Friday.

The letter was copied to Finance Minister, Audley Shaw, who has portfolio responsibility for CTL.

The OCG will also be probing the commercial arrangement for the provision of the subject satellite services, which appear to be tentatively in place, involving CTL, Phumelela Gold International,and International Media Content Limited, a St Lucia-based corporation.

Chairman

The OCG release stated that International Media Content Limited has been described by both CTL and SportsMax's website as the parent company of SportsMax Limited.

The OCG also added that several media reports carried in 2007 named Rousseau as IMC's chairman.
