The Editor, Sir:
Is there nothing else that Portia Simpson Miller can focus on, except power?
The Hon Owen Arthur lost the general elections while Barbados has been enjoying great economic stability. He, being a statesman, simply conceded to the new prime minister.
He then left politics by handing over reins to Mia Mottley, who is now the Opposition leader. And they have not been preaching doom and gloom for their country because they are not the government.
These are persons who put their country first.
I believe the People's National Party (PNP) and Simpson Miller can take a page from Arthur. All the PNP seem to do is preach doom and gloom on the country. What Simpson Miller and her cohorts fail to realise that this all 'about Jamaica', not about the PNP.
Giving the international economic circumstances, the present administration is doing a good job in the short term.
We know that politics is Simpson Miller's life, and what her actions are telling us is that she is short-sighted, and cannot focus on other things which may contribute to the well-being of our country.
She needs to stop going on political platforms and preaching about food crisis, as the same persons who are buying two slices of bread and cannot afford to buy chicken back now, are the same persons who have been doing so for the past 18 plus years, and before.
I am, etc.,
