Leadership to the rescue
published: Wednesday | July 23, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher were women who served their generation and respective nations with distinction.

Since their times, however, western civilization has gone through some very dramatic and painful birth pangs. Decadence and immorality are its hallmarks and it's grinding to a halt.

It needs one of two things: either the Sharia laws of Islam, which would act as a cleansing agent, or strong decent male leadership to arrest its decline.

Forgotten vows

This decadence that now plagues western society has its genesis not in the mere liberation of the western woman but the total liberation of that woman - that woman who has forgotten the vows of her youth.

In the case of our own country, Jamaica, the same decadence has sit in. We need strong decent leadership.

Therefore the delegates of the opposition party should do the prudent and honourable thing in September. Restore the party to its former glory and relevance to face the challenges of the 21st century.

I am, etc.,

P. LOGAN
