Junior tennis finals cancelled
published: Sunday | July 20, 2008

Yesterday's finals of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Association Jamaica junior tournament were cancelled because of bad weather.

The finalists in the boys' and girls' sections of the tournament will be awarded points for reaching their respective finals.

Jamaica's Brandon Burke and Barbadian Darian King were down to face the number-one pair of Max Stevens of the United States and Rodney Carey of The Bahamas in the doubles final.

Stevens, who is the number-one seeded player in the tournament should have faced Jesús Bandres of Venezuela in the boys' singles final. Meanwhile, Dominican Republic's Francesca Segarilli was scheduled to defend her girls' singles title against Sachia Vickery of the United States.

The players who are scheduled to leave the island this morning will now turn their attention to this week's ITF championships, which will be held in the Dominican Republic.
