Gordon ... training with Harbour View.- File
The transfer market continues to heat up ahead of the start of the 2008-09 National Premier League football season.
Waterhouse's Jomo Gordon is the latest player who may be on the move. He could be making a return to dethroned champions, Harbour View.
Gordon began his football career at Harbour View, but in 2005 made a move to Waterhouse. With Harbour View again interested in his services the 30-year-old could be putting to pen to paper in very short order.
"Jomo has been training with the club. However, we are in no position to release any information about his situation at the moment," said Harbour View manager, Clyde Jureidini. "When a final decision has been taken, a formal announcement will be made, however, until then the club has no comment," he added.
A slippery forward with an appetite for scoring goals, especially on big occasions, Gordon was integral to Harbour View lifting their first NPL title in 2005. However in the 2005/2006 season, in a well-publicised move, he made a switch to Waterhouse - one of Harbour View's biggest rivals.
Disappointment
The former Tivoli Comprehensive High Manning Cupper has since helped Waterhouse to four major titles, and six final appearances, all of which were achieved under inspirational coach Wayne Fairclough, who in responding to the situation said he was slightly disappointed.
"I heard that he has interest in going back to Harbour View, and chances are that he is training with a willingness to return," said Fairclough, regarding the move. "Any player of the stature of Jomo Gordon would be a loss to any club. But then, we can't control any player, so if he wants to leave, he wants to leave. I hope he finds Harbour View a good hunting ground," he added.
Third player to leave club
The titles Gordon assisted Waterhouse in winning include: the NPL (2006), NPL mid-season final (2006), NPL mid-season final (2008) and JFF/COK All-Island KO (2008), with the KSAFA Jackie Bell (2006 and 2008) - the second of which ended in bizarre circumstances - being the two finals that were lost.
For Waterhouse, Gordon is the third player who, according to reports, is a departure from the club. The others are goalkeeper Maurice Evans, who is training with Boys' Town, and midfielder Hugh Howell who has his sights on newly promoted Meadhaven.
