Amateurs get ready to tee off
published: Thursday | July 17, 2008

THE NATIONAL Amateur Golf Championships tee off tomorrow at the Caymanas Golf and Country Club and will run through to Sunday.

The championships returned to the national golf calendar last year after an eight-year break, and have historically been the premier event for Jamaica's amateur golfers.

The tournament will feature a 54-hole strokeplay and participants will compete for trophies in several categories, including men, men's seniors, men's super seniors and ladies.

Top golfers

There will be further categorisation in flights by handicap. The tournament is expected to attract participation from many of Jamaica's top golfers, as well as interested Jamaican's residing overseas.

The national championships will also serve as a warm-up for the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships (CAGC), which will get under way in early August in the Cayman Islands.
