FORMER WORLD champion hurdler Perdita Felicien of Canada will not compete at the Beijing Olympics, confirming yesterday she was ending her comeback from injury.
The 27-year-old Felicien broke her foot in training in February and hadn't raced this season. Athletics Canada gave her until next Tuesday to qualify, but she decided to end her attempt after talking to coaches, doctors and family.
"I tried the best that I could but I just ran out of time," Felicien said.
Future goal
"So I'm not training for Beijing but the next thing up for me would be next summer's world championships and, hopefully, to win a fourth world medal."
Felicien went into the 2004 Athens Olympics as the world 100m hurdles champion but tripped over the first hurdle in the final.
