Flawed PNP campaign
published: Wednesday | July 16, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

People are free to run for leadership but their criticisms are flawed as all the three most visible persons on the campaign have senior positions within the party. They should have dealt with whatever issues at the party level. It looks as if they have unfinished business with Simpson Miller and it's all personal. I have no doubt that she has shortcomings but show me one leader who is perfect.

This is one of the strongest Oppositions I have ever seen and it is a testament to Simpson Miller's leadership. The PNP got 28 seats because of Mrs Simpson Miller, and once she started to speak to the people after the loss at the polls, the party's stocks have moved past the JLP's.

To Dr Phillips, I must ask the question: why would you place the party in this predicament when its stocks are rising? Whatever you say, I can only conclude this is a selfish act and not an act to build the PNP. In 2006, you and your band went on an all out war to destroy Mrs. Simpson Miller, and you only succeeded in hurting the party. You seem bent on destroying the party this time. Stop, before it's too late as comrades will never forgive you.

I am, etc.,

O.J. STEWART
