A distraught-looking Radcliffe Rhynie, player/coach of Catherine Hall All Stars, watched from the bench as his team had another fourth-quarter meltdown and suffered another heavy defeat, this time by 39 points, as they lost 103-64 against Arnett Gardens Rockers in the KFC-sponsored National Basketball League, at the Stadium courts, on Saturday evening.

"We still can't win a game, said player, coach Rhynie of his team's 0-7 record, the worst in the league.

"The team needs to start playing better in the fourth quarter. We played well in the first half of the game, but we faded away in the second half," said a concerned Radcliffe who sat out the game, which was the first of a double-header.

Radcliffe added that for the next game and onwards, the team will place more emphasis on fitness.

Lacking in strength and endurance

In terms of strength and endurance, they were lacking and Radcliffe said that they don't have the facilities to work on their strength to remain competitive in the league.

The team is appealing to commercial businesses in Montego Bay to sponsor them.

Arnell Campbell scored a game-high 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Rockers. He had good support from Marvin Campbell with 17 points.

Neville Curtis led Catherine Hall with 18 points and Dwayne Johns added 13.

The Montego Bay-based team was only down 17-25 at the end of the first quarter and tied 27-27 with the South St Andrew team during the second quarter. But Arnett defended well and got numerous easy buckets due to turnovers from Catherine Hall, as the Rockers went on a 23-8 run to close out the half 50-35.

Increasing their lead

Arnett gathered 21 points to Catherine Hall's 18 in the third quarter and increased their lead to 18 points (71-53). However, Catherine Hall only scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to their opponents' 32 points, being outscored by 22 points in the last quarter.

"It was an easy win for us and I'm happy for that. We made it past 100 points, but, I thought they (Catherine Hall) scored too many points against us, the reason being we lapsed in defence and we need to work on that for the next game," said Everald Hermitt, coach of Arnett Gardens Rockers.

Meanwhile, Portmore Flames, riding high on Jermaine Mascoe's 18 points, all three-point daggers, and the inside play of Kenardo Smith with 23 points and 16 rebounds, improved their record to 4-4 with a surprise 83-59 blowout of Blazing Panthers in the feature match of the night.

Phillip Anderson and Dushane White scored 14 points apiece for the Panthers, who dropped to 3-6 for the season.
