So it's summer and many parents are wondering just what to do with their children. Here are a few suggestions:
'Boys to Men' camp
The 'Boys to Men' Summer Camp is being hosted by the Centre for Leadership, a non-profit organisation.
It will be held over a two-week period from August 7-20 at Westwood High School in Stewart Town, Trelawny.
The camp mainly targets boys, aged 12-16 years who do not have a father figure.
Jacqueline Geddes, project manager of the Centre for Leadership, told The Gleaner that the camp is aimed at honing leadership skills.
"We would like to deprogramme then reprogramme the minds of the boys to help and guide them in the right direction," Geddes said.
During the two-week camp, boys will be encouraged to participate in a number of sporting activities, such as football, basketball and volleyball.
The campers will also have several rap sessions during which they will be able to speak with outstanding motivational male leaders.
