The great outdoors - Freaky fun in the open
published: Saturday | June 28, 2008

Petrina Francis, Staff Reporter

Sex on the wild side has remained a fantasy for many persons, as they are too scared of getting caught and being forced to face public condemnation and embarrassment.

The sexual adventurousness of some lovers boggles the mind of more reserved couples.

Sex therapist Dr Sidney McGill says people who have sex in public spaces often do it because of increasing levels of anxiety during the act. This anxiety, he explains, boosts sexual gratification.

However, McGill says if one person isn't comfortable with the environment, the reverse could occur.

The exciting prospect of exhibitionism is also a turn-on for couples who have sex in public places, the sex therapist says. He also notes that having sex in public helps couples to spice up a boring sex life.

Meet Janet Collins, who has made love just about everywhere.

"I think it spices up the relationship because it is different and I think it brings some sort of excitement to what could be a routine night in the bedroom," the 34-year-old relates.

Collins tells of a thrilling experience she had after her partner took her to dine in Port Royal. On their way back home, unleashed hormones influenced them to stop near to the beach and they made steamy love on the bonnet of the car.

Scared

The passionate plunge can't be erased from her memory, but Collins relates that she was somewhat scared.

But that didn't stop her from going to another hot spot in Kingston - 19th-century, Georgian-style Devon House - and having sex in the bathroom.

"We went to have ice cream and then we started touching and kissing," she says with a broad smile. "The scenery was romantic and I guess we couldn't hold on to our emotions, so we went into the toilet and did our thing."

While getting it on, someone came banging on the door but Collins and her partner were determined to go all the way. Tough luck, fella, hold it till you reach home.

But having sex in public places can be dangerous. A woman could be raped by men who want to join in the act.

Just recently, two policemen were remanded after they were slapped with sex assault charges. The lawmen caught a couple in the midst of love play on the Hellshire main road. The woman was then allegedly taken to a section of Dyke Road, a Portmore strip notorious for romantic rendezvous, and forced to perform sexual acts on the policemen.

McGill advises lovers to be careful about the spots they select to have sex.
