Jamaica's Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, raced to a world-leading 200 metres time at yesterday's Ostrava Golden Spike Meeting in the Czech Republic.

Bolt, who last month established a new 100m world mark of 9.72 seconds at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York, clocked 19.83 in his first 200m run of the season. He finished well clear of Zimbabwean Brian Dzingai who was second in 20.17, while American John Capel was third in 20.71.

In the women's 400m hurdles, Melaine Walker, took the event in 54.42 seconds. Poland's Anna Jesien had a season best 54.71, while homegirl Zuzanna Hejnova was third in a national record 54.96.

Former national champion, Ricardo Chambers, was a third place finisher in the men's 400m. Chambers, who went out hard but faded in the last 50 metres, finished in 45.83 behind Great Britain's Martyn Rooney (45.32) and David Gillick of Israel (45.65).

Impressive 12.87s

Meanwhile, Cuban Dayron Robles broke the world 110m hurdles record with an impressive 12.87 seconds clocking. The mark beat the previous best of 12.88 held by Olympic and World champion Liu Xiang of China since 2006.

Bahamian Derrick Atkins (10.07) won the men's 100m ahead of Brian Dzingai of Zimbabwe (10.25).

In the men's 300m, American Jeremy Wariner returned to his winning ways, with a 31.72 victory.
