HE STOOD by her side when she was crowned Miss Jamaica World 2005 and, as firmly as he did then, he stood on Saturday, awaiting his bride at the altar.

Evon Courtney Reid Jr took the hand of Terri-Karelle Griffith as they were wed in a ceremony filled with tears of joy, commitment and love.

Griffith captured the heart of Jamaicans with her unceasingly bubbly personality during the Miss Jamaica World competition in 2005. She went on to win the coveted Miss Jamaica crown and on that night introduced the nation to her boyfriend, Evon Courtney Reid Jr. To many, the two seemed an unlikely pair, but they would prove all doubters wrong. Three years later, he is her husband.

With a theme of gold and ivory, the colours were gracefully displayed on the beautiful bridesmaids.

Eemotional ceremony

In an intimate ceremony, at Christ Church in Vineyard Town, the two pledged themselves to each other, saying slow and purposeful vows.

Griffith, overwhelmed with emotion, wept and her groom wiped her tears.

Officiating ministers were Reverend Patrick Cunningham and Ralph 'Tim' Parkes.

A cosy reception followed on the lawns of 6 Forest Avenue in Red Hills, St Andrew.

Their guests feasted on caterer Lorraine Clunie's chicken vegetable soup, sweet and sour chicken, teriyaki chicken, roasted and stuffed rolled pork fillet and gungo rice and peas, seasoned rice and garden salad.

The two are spending their honeymoon in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

Guests included Micky Haughton James, Sara Lawrence, Pauline Stone Myrie, Miss Jamaica World 2006, Deika Morrison, Leefa Shiikwa Miss Namibia 2005, Kesha Brown, Malisa Coker, Tiffany Reid, Chante' Wildgoose, Karsten Johnson, Dominique Scott, Omar Wallace, Adrian Williams, Kerri-Ann Mills, Craig McGann, Edward Channa, Andrene Bennett, Monique and Devereaux Maddix and several others.
