Oh my daahlings, what a week for partying! Precious angels, as the party season go, they just do not come any hotter than this here summer fiesta! Children, we are talking here of nothing but simply fabulous parties, with destination Jamaica simply being the hottest vacation destination this party season.

My daahlings, to begin with, we are talking nothing but celebs, high-glam, glitz and haute style as the region's biggest, best and most happening fashion event, Caribbean Fashionweek, the fabulous Pulse- created, sponsored and promoted fashion event of the year takes place. It is the brainchild of the pioneering Kingsley Cooper, who has with fixity of purpose transformed Jamaica from being a mere player to being the fashion and entertainment centre of the region.

Fashionable heat

Turtledoves, Kingston is definitely in the throes of a fashionable heat stroke and set to sizzle all weekend long and into Monday, as the runways and catwalks of the metropolis will be burning. A slew of international celebs, hot and buffed models will burn up some miles as they strut the latest in designer duds by the region's fiercest designers.

And then my dears, when the action on the runways and catwalks come to an end, the glitz and glow will move to the tres and ultra chic Strawberry Hill Boutique Resort and Spa for the season-ending CFW closing party!

Oh my dears, this weekend the capital is buzzing with nothing but CFW activities. The must-have tickets are those for the collections at the National Indoor Sports Arena, for the nightly showing of the collections.

And with the likes of the stunningly gorgeous beauty and actress Nia Long all set to make her first appearance at this season's CFW, honeys, you know we are talking nothing but smokingly hot. Glam girls Eve, Mashonda and Vanessa are just a few of the sizzling models and beauties from the international happening crowd, all set to take CFW by storm!

Birthday bash

And speaking of fabulous people, parties and places, if y'all missed last Friday's joint pre-birthday celebratory bash hosted by Kenny Benjamin and his Guardsman Group for his Group GM, the absolutely charming Valarie Juggan Brown and her friend of long-standing, Security Minister Colonel Trevor MacMillan, then pumpkins, y'all missed one fine outing, and then some!

Luvs, no airs, titles and/or or egos were in attendance, only the chic who were out to laud a friend and/or an admired one, who has served as role model for many a young professional climbing the corporate ladder. It made for a most enjoyable affair!

Juggan-Brown actually celebrated her birthday on Sunday, June 8, and Colonel MacMillan celebrated his on Saturday, June 7, but the two friends decided that, the exigencies of their respective duties allowing, a joint celebration would be in order.

Friends, colleagues and well-wishers joined them, along with their respective spouses, Dr Olivia McDonald, MacMillan's wife, and Ron Brown, as they sliced into a symbolic birthday cake to crown an evening of festivities. The party was set against a backdrop of a lush and flowering garden, waterfall, gurgling stream and an all-white decor. You know we are talking a charmer here!

Among the notables out were: Health Minister Ruddy Spencer; Senator Dwight Nelson; Suzie Benjamin and her children Nicholas and Brooke Benjamin; Professor Dr Errol Morrison; Cindy Breakspeare (who did the decorating honours); J. Lester Spaulding; Ethlyn Norton-Coke; Dr Henry Lowe; Jean Lowrie-Chin; Rae Barrett; Steve Ashley; Basil Lue and wife, Dr Eve Palomino Lue; Tanny Shirley; George and Carolyn Overton.

We saw: Frank Rosheuvel; Walter Scott; Mr and Mrs Harry Maragh; Al Niazi; Sonja Sutherland Dumetz; William Potopsingh; Claudia Burke; Albert Lyon; the oh-so-lovely Marie Josephs; George Kates; Yvonne Wilks; Major Hugh Blake; Audrey Miller; Alva Anderson; the beautiful Rebecca Silvera; Vikram Dhiman; Errol McKenzie; Yvonne Pearson; Nigel Black and companion Major Johanna Lewin; Donna Harpaul; Peter Gentles; the gorgeous Renée Menzies-McCallum; Wayne Clarke; Nicky Stephenson; Robert Haughton and the foxy Simone Campbell; Jonathan Wymss-Gorman; Sheraine Murray; and Ian Robinson.

Birthday crowd

And speaking of birthdays: belated birthday greetings to the lovely Shielle Lee, who celebrated her sweet 16th last Sunday, at her Yallahs home in St Thomas.

Finance Minister Audley Shaw celebrates his special day today.

Also celebrating her very special day today is the fab Kathy Owen.

Theatre icon Leonie Forbes and Jennifer Messado both celebrated yesterday.

And former Canadian High Commissioner Claudio Valle and his fabulous wife, Louise Valle, both arrive in Kingston this afternoon, from Canada, and already the social circles have moved into overdrive.

Then, my daahlings, the Father's Day special this year is none other than the season-closing Father's Day Extravaganza that will bring the curtains down on the 18th annual Ocho Rios Jazz Festival, at Fantasy Beach in Priory, St Ann. The show that was advertised for elsewhere will now be at the fab Fantasy Beach, one of the north coast's better and unspoilt beaches.

We are talking a stellar line-up here, featuring a number of international acts as well as some leading Jamaican purists, who are all set to make it a stellar occasion.

Dears, we are talking the likes of Kerekes Jazz Group, out of Hungary; Switzerland's Four Tenors; the Antelope Valley Big Band, out of California, USA. Women in Jazz, featuring songbird Karen Smith; and Dr Cathy Brown. (Jamaica Elderly Musical Statesmen); and Fab 5 doing their world-acclaimed Ska Revival to close this year's show.

Luvs, it promises to be a musical outing and a do of the finest order, and definitely a not-to-be-missed do, staged as it will be on one of the north coast's finest beaches, y'all know we are talking a simply fine outing here and a must-attend for jazz purists, music lovers in general, sun-worshippers and partygoers, as it promises to be an outing for the entire family.

But, of course, if fab music is not your scene, then this is definitely not your thing.
