Do it for the dads
published: Friday | June 13, 2008

Fathers should be pampered too. Father's Day is usually celebrated with less fanfare than Mother's Day. This Sunday, let fathers know that being a dad is appreciated.

Yesterday The Gleaner went through the stores of Cross Roads, St Andrew, in search of possible gift ideas and found these and other items.

Below are a few thoughts from Jamaican men on Father's Day, which will be celebrated on Sunday:

"My wish for Father's Day is that every father would find their purpose in life, understand why vision is essential to their success and the original intent of God for fathers. Knowing what God really created you as a father to be, not that you leave a child alone."

- Tommy Cowan, gospel music producer

"Father's Day for me is every day, that's how special my children are to me. I have three girls and one boy, and I love to have barbecues for them and I love to call them on their birthdays and sing for them."

- David Wong-Ken, lawyer

"As a doctor, I would encourage men to recognise the value of mental and physical health. Many men may fear going to the doctor or undervalue the importance of therapy but these are important aspects of life. Real men know that counselling for children is important, that it assists in human development. Real men know, too, that getting a proper assessment of their health is crucial for survival."

- Dr Robert Robinson, specialist in internal medicine

For 'Mr Fix-it', dad's tool sets may be a great idea.
