LONDON (CMC):
Commonwealth leaders have agreed on the need for the establishment of "some kind of international agency" to undertake a structured discussion on the global energy crisis, Trinidad and Tobago's Prime Minister Patrick Manning has said.
Manning was among 10 Commonwealth leaders who met here for a two-day mini-summit to discuss the reform of international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Also attending the conference was Guyana's President Bharrat Jagdeo.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the summit, Manning said that the energy situation was "looming larger and larger in the international community", and that "there is no structured dialogue taking place between the producers and consumers of energy".
