NOTE-WORTHY: A greater sin?
published: Thursday | June 12, 2008

A greater sin?

I would like to ask Pastor Ira Thompson of the Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ, who commended the PM's 'enlightened' responses on the BBC's Hardtalk programme, based on the fact that he is upholding biblical Christian values, what does the Bible say about fornication and adultery?

Aren't these sinful acts that should be denounced just as fervently as homosexual acts? In the Bible weren't people stoned because of the acts of adultery? So if these are all sins, when and who decided that one was a greater sin than the other and that God, who made us ALL in his image, is going to preferentially castigate homosexuals?

Great reading

Just finished reading Ian Boyne'scolumn in last Sunday's Gleaner and thought it made great reading!

I look forward to Ian continuing to share his views as we witness perhaps the most historic election campaign in the United States of America (or the world?) to date. Don't ask how come I'm just reading The Sunday Gleaner on Wednesday - it makes an excellent companion at the breakfast table during the week! Cheers.

Weed the garden

It seems like the churches in Jamaica are praying to the wrong God. God said if you cry to me I will hear your call if you are serving me, but the church prayers are falling on deaf ears. The Government's hands seem to be tied in that they can't weed the garden as it should be weeded, because of the so-called Human Rights and Amnesty International and other people who never came to Jamaica's aid from 1976-1980 when thousands died.

The meat of the matter is: If you have a rose, or food garden, and weeds are taking up your garden, you can't go to the garden every day, and talk to the weed telling it to stop choking your flowers, or crops. You can't sing, and pray to the weed. You have to root out the weeds, and save your roses, or crops. Read between the lines, and have a good day.

Congrats, Usain!

Congratulations Usain Bolt! You have made us proud. Bolt's performance was immense and he exemplifies a true role model to especially Jamaican young men. He has truly demonstrated that through practice, hard work, dedication, patience and perseverance one can accomplish his or her goal.

Also, Bolt must be congratulated on his admirable humility and the intelligence he demonstrated in his interviews here and abroad. He has displayed all-round ability in athletics and intelligence.

You have made us proud, Usain. Now, go forth and bring home the gold medal.
