LONDON, England (CMC):

West Indies batsman Wavell Hinds failed to score but his side Derbyshire roughed up Worcestershire and won their English County Division Two match handsomely at Queen's Park yesterday.

After carving out a 205-run first innings lead, Derbyshire bowled out Worcestershire for 110 runs in their second innings to win the match by an innings and 95 runs inside three days.

Replying to Worcestershire's first innings score of 151, Derbyshire piled up 356 in their reply Saturday with wicket-keeper/batsman James Pipe smashing 133.

The left-handed Hinds failed to score, caught behind first ball off ex-England pacer Simon Jones, who bagged five for 74.

Worcestershire barely passed the 100-mark in their second innings on yesterday's third day with Gareth Batty (25) top-scoring. Graham Wagg (4-53) and Rikki Clarke (3-6) were the chief wicket-takers for Derbyshire, who wrapped up the game before lunch.

Hinds, the 31-year-old Jamaican, signed up earlier this year as Derbyshire's overseas player mainly for their Twenty20 campaign this summer.

Three maidens

Meanwhile, West Indies fast bowler Jermaine Lawson appeared in a three-day MCC University match for Leicestershire that ended in a draw at Leeds. Bradford/Leeds UCCE scored 275 all out in their first innings, with Lawson picking up three for 78 off 22 overs with three maidens.

Leicestershire replied with 382 all out and when the game ended yesterday afternoon, UCCE had reached 153 for four in the second innings with Lawson finishing on none for 15 off eight overs.
