NOTE-WORTHY: Support for Commissioner
published: Monday | June 9, 2008

Support for Commissioner

I have sent the following note to Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin: Dear Commissioner, I am indeed heartened by your decision to reconsider resigning as commissioner of police of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Accordingly, I publicly pledge the unconditional support of the entire membership of the Island Special Constabulary Force to your administration.

We will spare no effort in ensuring that your tenure will be successful. Again, thanks for your reconsideration.

For better schools

I reside in the United States and it made me really happy to see those students who were accepted to the school of their choice.

However, it also broke my heart to see the others disappointed. I am going to be a future educator and it is my hope that Jamaica will find a way to help make its students more productive and develop better schools so that ALL students can go where the want to school.

It is also a dream/goal/hope that the States can somehow help Jamaica towards better education.

Official car pool

Politicians are the servants of the people, as Mr Golding himself acknowleged recently. The hard- pressed taxpayers of Jamaica have no obligation to provide politicians with luxury vehicles.

If transportation must be provided, let the ministers request vehicles from an established pool of cars made available for their use. These cars should be returned to the pool at the end of the business day and should remain the property of the taxpayers.

Let the politician use their own vehicles for personal use. The people of Jamaica can no longer afford the extravagancies of government officials.
