HOTTEST TOPICS ON THE COCKTAIL CIRCUIT

Who must lead?

1. People are still trying to get over the shock and sense of hopelessness, the statement that seemed to have abrogated the responsibility of the Government to lead the fight against crime. Some are so demoralised they are now actively looking to greener pastures as a viable option.

Upsetting sisterhood

2.Some say that at least one person who was expected to stand in solidarity at the recent launch decided not to publicly identify with the event, and instead of accepting the role of guest speaker, opted to attend church. Needless to say, the move did not go down well within the sisterhood, and some are voicing their disgust with the perceived slight of what should have been a moment of solidarity.

Here's a new title!

3.The new title is 'Guest-Speaker-in-Chief'.

Terrorists-at-large

4.Some are saying the title 'Area Leader' is nothing more than political sanctioning of the criminals who terrorise their own neighbourhoods and whose lieutenants are let loose to terrorise the rest of the nation.

Missing patron

5.She agreed to be the patron to the much-advertised event on the scheduled night, though she was nowhere to be seen and there was no tendered apology. Needless to say, the organisers and some patrons regard this as a major breach of protocol and are still awaiting some kind of explanation.

'Two-faced hypocrite'

6.Some are saying at least one high-profile official with insider information was allowed to withdraw his money from the failed cash-rich scheme days after it was adjudged insolvent, and they are not amused by the notion. They are threatening to make public a copy of the cheque that was issued to cover his 'loan' to the company, to show up the person being so accused as being a two-faced hypocrite.

Questionable background

7.Why do politicians keep rising to the defence of some persons with questionable background, eulogising them in glowing terms, to the point of near sainthood or martyrdom, when they are killed by their cronies or agents of the state?

Grudgeful, inspiration

8.Some are saying to remember Sammy who planted a piece a corn down a gully. It was nothing he did why they killed him, save and excepting the grudgeful nature of others, as some just don't like to see others succeed, especially so when those they begrudge are the inspiration for their own success.
