NOTE-WORTHY: Need stronger leadership
published: Thursday | June 5, 2008

Need stronger leadership

I think I speak for a lot of Jamaicans at home and aboard who were expecting stronger leadership from the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) after they won last year's election. I am so far not impressed.

After 18 years in the Opposition, they should have more defined policies on energy, crime and education. We all agree that the JLP has to clean up after the People's National Party. History has not been kind to the JLP in this regard over the years. Jamaicans must have leaders who lead or the consequences are too hard to think about.

Cynicism and crime

In response to your editorial 'Overcoming cynicism in fighting crime,' I, too, share your cynicism that this recently-concocted crime plan will not work as advertised. I hope it does, but I don't like its chance of success.

We're aware of what it will take to stem the crime wave, but I'm left with the nagging feeling that the political leaders are not interested in finding creative ways to address and implement these changes, methods and systems. At this point, the only beneficiaries of this crime wave are the criminals themselves and this is not what decent Jamaicans expect of their island and its leaders.

Crime heyday

Crime in Jamaica is the prerogative of everyone. The government, private sector and all citizens should stop everything that they think is important to them and come up with a plan to combat the monster, CRIME.

The criminals are having a heyday, they feel unstoppable. We must come together and take back Jamaica.

Warning to gays

I write to warn those people who feel that the homosexual lifestyle is normal. I tell you that every country that allows this will suffer greatly from the sins caused by such acts.

Many of you will laugh and say this man is crazy, but I tell you this sinful act if allowed will destroy towns and cities and mankind shall face illnesses, hunger and starvation for even mother Earth shall fail to provide food and likewise the rivers and seas until mankind obey the laws and only then will there be change. My word is truth.
