Lifestyle myths
published: Monday | June 2, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Claude Wilson, in defence of PM Golding's anti-gay stance, claims that straight people confine their sex life to their bedrooms and that gays should do likewise (Gleaner, Monday, May 26, 2008). This is one of the myths perpetrated by the anti-gay lobby.

Far from it, heterosexuals routinely display their sexuality through public displays of affection (even simulated sex under the guise of dancing), talking and boasting about their sexual relations, forming public sexual unions through marriage or common-law relationships, artistic (and not so artistic) displays that clearly speak to man-woman relationships, etc.

Indeed, it is heterosexuals who impose their lifestyle on homosexuals, including the dire warnings to and violent reactions against those who do not conform.

I am, etc.,
