WESTERN BUREAU:

At 9:30 a.m. two Saturdays ago, Joe and Pamela Hylton witnessed their youngest daughter Jodi's graduation from Converse University, North Carolina. One hundred and seventy-six hours later, they were giving away daughter number two, Rosemarie, to new husband Rohan Burey.

In a lovely wedding ceremony last Saturday afternoon at the Rose Hall Resort and Country Club, Rosemarie and Rohan exchanged vows in the presence of family members and friends.

Spared the wrath of the rainy season, the two were blessed with the beauty of the sunset and the wisdom of officiating minister, Rev Joseph Anderson.

Having their special day executed by wedding coordinator Conroy Thompson, the couple combined brown, baby pink and ivory, creating a magical colour scheme that complemented the large Rose Hall ballroom, which played host to the wedding reception.

High vases, dressed with roses, lilies and ferns, stunningly flowered tables, and a four-tiered fruitcake with candles ascending beautifully to one side were the highlights of the room.

When the time came for toasting the newly-weds, sister of the bride, Jodi Hylton, made sure to send her warning signals, "She (Rosemarie) is very opinionated, is always right, and will provide her husband with the research even if she is wrong," she cautioned the new groom, with comments that had the guests in stitches.

Complimenting her sister, she added: "If she commits to you like she commits to her family, you are in for a wonderful life."

The groom's mother, Norma Burey, and son Anthony, the bride's daughter, Taylor Hylton-Griffin, headed the bridal party that included Junior Headlam, Jaemar Miller, Wayne Thomas, Marlon Dacres, Rickelle Miller, Dorita Sturdivant, Alicia Henry and Chelsea Williams.

Junior Gordon, Patricia Headlam, Valrie Hylton-Thorpe, Fitzroy Buchanan, Carl and Dr Barbara Erskine, Dr Courtney and Audrey Watson, Noel and Valrie Campbell, Jaime Delgado, Bernadette and Kendall Dunn were among the host of people who turned out for the event.
