I WOULD like to enlist the help of Food For the Poor in this matter. My name is Maureen Thomas and I am currently a teacher at an elementary school in Broward County, Florida, in the United States. It is in this capacity that I have become aware of a situation wherein large numbers of new and near-new school books are discarded whenever counties revise their schools' curriculum and subsequently introduce new programmes into the system.

Valuable resource

Currently, I have in my position a vast quantity of these books and I would like to propose that Food For the Poor could be used as a conduit for these new and near-new books to Jamaica. I have tried unsuccessfully to find such a conduit and you are my port of last resort. I know that what I am trying to do, with your assistance, can make a great difference to the lives of some Jamaican children and I trust your organisation could assist in making use of this valuable resource.
