Review the Constitution every 10 years
published: Tuesday | May 20, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir;

THE CONSTITUTION is a very important document of the country and should be revisited every 10 years to determine if adjustments should be made. If this had been done in the past, we would not be facing the challenges now in regard to our politicians and dual citizenship.

I do not agree with certain provisions in the Constitution relating to dual citizenship. If a Jamaican obtains dual citizenship through a relative in another country and gets elected to Parliament under the democratic franchise of the people, and cannot sit in the legislature something is wrong.

I am saying this as a server in the Anglican Church of Jamaica and The Cayman Islands. I see this as not good.

I am, etc.,
