Claim to fame: trombonist/ composer whose tragic personal life has overshadowed his musical legacy. Drummond was a founding member of The Skatalites band; he composed classic instrumentals such as Eastern Standard Time and Confucius.

Personal facts: Was born in Allman Town in St Andrew. Attended Alpha Boys School; played in Eric Deans Band before joining The Skatalites.

Stabbed his lover Margarita Mahfood to death on New Year's Day 1965. He was ruled criminally insane and sent to the Bellevue Asylum where he died on May 6, 1969.

Trivia: P J Patterson defended Drummond at his murder trial.

Beenie Man sampled Eastern Standard Time for his hit song, Mark Up Yuh Blackboard.

American trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis is one of Drummond's many admirers.
