The Editor, Sir:How ironic that the People's National Party (PNP) seems intent on going to any length to hold on to power even after the electorate has so clearly rejected them.
The PNP apparently felt that the solution to our problems was to recruit foreigners and pay them huge sums of money, which is how we got to recruit overseas police officers whose effectiveness is still in doubt.
Now the PNP is accusing the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) of recruiting candidates of dual citizenship. I find this so hypocritical.
After 18 years of doom and gloom under the captaincy of P.J. Patterson, the PNP seems only happy to waste taxpayers' money in the courts when they know for sure that there is no law that can overturn the will of the people, especially in a country such as Jamaica.
The PNP does not care how much unrest they stir up among a volatile people, they will simply lock up in their mansions, while partisans slaughter each other in their ignorance. They will wait for the smoke to clear and then attempt to get back in control at any cost.
I think it is a good idea to have candidates in Parliament who can bring a variety of experience to the table, especially from more developed countries.
The PNP was rejected in September and I hope we will continue to reject them until they do a thorough purging of the dishonest elements in the party.
I am, etc.,
BRIAN JOHNSON
