Hello...
published: Saturday | May 17, 2008

Staying on top of trends and faux pas has certainly become a daily dilemma. Today, Style gives the thumbs up to 'in' trends and warns you of those wardrobe crimes that'll get you cuffed by the fashion police.

- Elisabeth Salmon

Tear-drop Triangle

The 'tear-drop' bikini top is a great spin on the ever popular triangle bikini. With a simple string attachment, the top actually conceals more skin while remaining chic and sexy. Available in a variety of colours and patterns, this fresh shape is sure to make a splash this summer.

Cutting edge

If you're looking to add shine to your jewellery box collection, square bangles should do the trick. Their unconventional shape is sure to turn heads and add much more flair than your ho-hum wristwear. Yep, bangles have definitely stepped outside of the inner circle and are squaring off with all-comers.

Bedtime boxers

Although originally designed as an alternative to restrictive male briefs, boxers have certainly crossed the gender line to become a must-wear for the girls. Finally, females have a cute, yet still comfortable undergarment appropriate enough to make that midnight trip past the family to the fridge. Now, Dad won't have any more heart attacks from your lovable lace!

... goodbye

Ban those bands

Sweat bands were once only seen on athletes - and rightly so - for mopping perspiration to clear vision and to prevent the hands from getting too wet.

Nowadays, unfortunately, these bands are seen on the wrists of men and women on the streets everywhere during all sorts of non-athletic activities. Here's a tip: If you're not running, jumping or climbing, lose the bands.

Toss those tassels

Tassel belts were the most unattractive and useless belt trend women ever indulged in. To our demise, we were unwittingly drawn in by the sassy hips of sultry Colombian singer Shakira, but thankfully we have become strong enough to untie the tassels.
