Why all the fuss?
published: Wednesday | May 14, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Why is the opposition party making such a fuss out of this change the Government is making? This is why our country cannot move forward. They should help to implement plans for the security of our nation instead of criticising this effort. I had respect for Dr Phillips, thought he was a well-thinking Jamaican, but his statement on the issue let me wonder about him. He was in charge of this ministry for how many years and was the country any safer than today?

I'm neither a JLP or a PNP. I was a citizen of Jamaica, never voted because our politicians never do things in the interest of our people, always doing things for self-benefit or to glorify themselves about what their party did. It's about time they come together and start doing things to unite our nation. It's nonsensical the way our young men are killing off each other. I ask why?

Our politicians need to get to the meat of the matter and try and curtail this before they wipe out a generation. Sometimes when I read the news, it makes me wonder if there is a war going on and if there is, what is it my people are warring about in our once-beautiful country.

I am, etc.,
