Observance of Mother's Day has been a good practice in strictly patriarchal societies where people have little time or willingness to acknowledge and appreciate the role of a mother in building the home and indeed the nation, on a regular, ongoing basis.

It needed an eternal prodding by the commercial interests to individuals to express gratitude to their mothers through gifts and/or dinner at a resturant. Usually, such gestures are emotional, but often mechnical or social. The role that a mother plays in laying the foundation of our lives needs to be realised on an ongoing basis, more than just once a year.

Acknowledge her divine virtues and their expression through a smile or a gift in a spiritual wrapping is all that a mother would wish for. Offer it to your mother - live or dead - by looking straight into her eyes, and enjoy the cosmic blessings from her on an ongoing basis.
