Solar symbolism
The symbolism of the Jamaican flag is represented in the words "Hardship there are, but the land is green and the sun shineth." It, therefore, stands to reason Jamaica needs to harness the energy from the sun to power its daily life, namely solar and thermal energy. This could be developed or adopted economically by ingenious and industrious Jamaicans. The import bill could be reduced and production costs reduced to raise the standard of living of all Jamaicans.

Against no fees
I am a 13-year-old student at Calabar High School. Although there are benefits from the no-school fee and no hospital fee, I totally disagree with it. The people who visit hospitals now have to wait for longer periods to be seen by doctors. We suffer because we have to pay more for food, clothing and other appliances. The Government should charge a lower fee instead so that the country can manage economically. I know that prices have increased worldwide, but the Government makes a great contribution. I am pleading with the Government, please rethink your decisions.

School buses
In yesterday's article by Rev Dick, I wish to ask if he does not know that when we had school buses there were children who deliberately didn't take the buses, or took special buses that they could carry on with unacceptable behaviour?

Scrap metal
Scrap-metal thieves will continue to steal metal and place the lives of the public in danger as long as scrap-metal dealers continue to buy stolen stuff. The only way to stop this is to lock up the dealers who buy stolen metal.
