Stakes win for Harding
published: Monday | May 12, 2008

ARIMA, Trinidad (CMC):

Champion jockey Brian Harding grabbed an easy win in Trinidad and Tobago's Sacha Gleneagle Stakes feature aboard the bay filly Luv Boat at Santa Rosa Park last Saturday.

Harding used Luv Boat to win the US$15,998 event by seven lengths, and also scored in the third race to move closer to the jockeys' championship lead.

Leading rider Ricky Jadoo failed to ride a winner on the card and remains on 24 victories for the season, while Harding moved within six of the lead, his double triumph taking him up to 18 wins.

Unchallenged

The in-form apprentice Keishan Balgobin and Venezuelan Luis Rodriquez scored two wins each, and share third with 17 wins.

In the Sacha Gleneagle Stakes, Harding was unchallenged as he steered Luv Boat to victory, stopping the clock at one minute 56.60 seconds for the 1750-metre event for top trainer John O'Brien.

Fairy Dancer finished second and Unbridled Calling was third.

Harding also won the 1750-metre third race with Godspell by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:51.60.

Rodriquez rode the winner of the co-feature Sacha Santa Rosa Dash with Personal Encounter by four lengths.

Personal Encounter won the 1200-metre sprint in 1:12.40.
