Plant something!
published: Friday | May 9, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Recently, while visiting Black River, the common complaint from many of the area's residents was that the "Prime Minister want us to go grow cassava". I was grossly disappointed and surprised that the message of self-reliance was completely lost on our people.

Every Jamaican has the responsibility to use whatever space is available to plant something. My uncle's backyard in Black River has corn, cassava, sorrel, gungo, tomato, eggplant, yam and potato, and he lives on a 1/4 acre lot. Let us all eat and buy Jamaican for our health, our pocket and for our country.

I am, etc,
