The Editor, Sir:
We have reached the point in Jamaica where everyone wants to have their cake and eat it. If the law conflicts with my personal and most selfish position then let's change the law or pretend it does not exist. People who are elected by the people to serve in the most sensitive area of our country cannot and should not swear allegiance to foreign powers.
You cannot serve this country by having one foot in it and another foot out of it. When that happens I get the impression that you are not giving 100 per cent because when things start falling apart you head out the back door to your alternate life.
Backup passport
The Government of Jamaica must be like the captain of a ship, you do everything in your powers to keep it afloat and if you fail you go down with the ship not grab the first available lifeboat or in this case your backup passport. We have a tendency in Jamaica that when things get tough people head for the airports; this way the Government has a vested interest to make sure things get better.
I am, etc.,
