The Editor, Sir:
I am a 34-year-old middle-income professional. I use this medium to classify myself as endangered.
I am employed, I live alone and I am the beneficiary of a mortgage through the National Housing Trust and Scotia Building Society.
I moved into my house in June of last year and it was the happiest day of my life. I was able to do it in Jamaica as a Jamaican and without getting married to supplement my income.
I am willing to accept that the global conditions have compounded the national problem.
I am willing to accept that years of economic corrections, trials and errors have added to the national problem.
I am willing to accept that, whether it is the PNP (as was) or the JLP (as is), that heads the government at this time we would be faced with these challenges.
Responsible behaviour
But I will not accept that backyard gardening is a viable solution. I will not accept that my diabetic grandmother and mother must be fed on cassava.
I will not accept that 32 million dollars on luxury cars is in the interest of the country. I will not accept that the PNP is totally wrong and the JLP is totally right.
If I am to accept that having done my best, I am still endan-gered, then the government will have to accept that they need to be more humble in performing their duties and more consultative in the quest for solutions.
And for all my commitments, I demand more respect and respon-sible behaviour from the persons who have been elected (on both sides) to steer the nation at this time.
I am, etc.,
