St Catherine remained on top of the Jamaica Super League cricket competition following their six-wicket win over Trelawny yesterday at Chedwin Park.
Chasing a victory target of 134 in 18 overs, St Catherine won with 2.4 overs to spare.
Danza Hyatt was ruthless, scoring a rapid 35 off 15 balls that was laced with a four and four sixes, while Tamar Lambert added 32.
Earlier, Lorenzo Ingram made 96 in Trelawny's second innings score of 290. Oral Rankine added 68 and Cordel Simpson chipped in with 55. Spinner Odean Brown took 4-73 and Gavin Wallace 2-39 to lead St Catherine's attack.
On Saturday, Trelawny made 165 all out in their first innings and St Catherine made 322-9 in reply, led by 110 from Junior Stewart.
At Melbourne: Kingston, behind centuries from Brendan Nash and Kemar Roach, secured first innings honours over the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), but played to a draw.
Replying to JDF's 183 on Saturday, Kingston ended on 365 with Nash making 128 and Roach 105. Akbar Moodie took 3-71. JDF reached 300 for six off 81 overs in their second innings, led by Bereston Reid (80) and Damion Grey (52). Nehemiah Perry, Kerry Scott and Marvin Darlington each took two wickets for Kingston.
"We were looking for six points," said Kingston captain Simon Jackson, "but we came out with three. The pitch was flat but Nash and Roach did really well for us."
Rain
At Kirkvine: Manchester were 64-2 with Runarko Morton on 22 when rain stopped play. Manchester, who made 189 in their first innings, resumed batting on 6-1 and were replying to Westmoreland's 127 all out. Derval Green (50) and Evan McInnis (33) led Westmoreland, while Donovan Sinclair, 5-46, and Nieve McNallis, 3-11, led Manchester's bowling attack.
At Alpart: St Elizabeth and Melbourne were headed for a draw before the match was called off due to rain. When rain interrupted play Melbourne were 148 for seven in their second innings with Donovan Pagon top scoring with 27 and Yannick Elliott unbeaten on 20. Alton Beckford took three wickets for 60 runs, and Jerome Taylor took 3-25 to end with match figures of 8-52.
Melbourne had earlier bowled out St Elizabeth for 165 behind Nikita Miller's 7-34 and Damion Jacobs' 3-25. Brenton Parchment led all batsmen with 40 and Damion Ebanks and Vinord Woolcock chipped in with 36 each.
