Gayness as perversion
published: Monday | April 21, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It never ceases to amaze me that so many defenders of homosexuality from outside Jamaica are adamant in trying to convince God-fearing Jamaicans to follow their filthy perversions. Such is the case with letter writers Claudia Walliston of London, England, and Bredan Malkotan of Providence, Rhode Island (April 19). More amazing is their faulty logic. This alone indicates there is something abnormal about homosexuals.

Bredan Malkotan points to a few Old Testament rituals that are subject to change and then uses them as a ground to convince readers that everything in the Bible is subject to change - even the objective evil of homosexuality. This is just silly. Even a two-year-old knows this is not right. Also, even if the Bible does make mistakes at times (which it doesn't) - this in itself is not a reason to suggest the Bible is wrong in regards to homosexuality.

Keep faith

Claudia Walliston at least admits that homosexuality is abnormal and wrong. Yet amazingly, she says that despite this we should just let these people do as they please. Can you imagine what would happen if Jamaican authorities allowed everyone in the land to do all the evil they desire. There would be bedlam.

May all Jamaicans hold true to the gospel of Jesus who taught peace and love and not the perversion of homosexuality.

I am, etc.,

RUTH FITZPATRICK
