Divine solution the answer
published: Monday | April 21, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It must be very clear to us as Jamaicans now that none of the political systems we have is capable of changing our present crime problem. Time and time again, we have seen various organisations come up with plans to ease crime and violence but none seems to work and based on my observation, I don't think it is possible for them to work.

Because these organisations are corrupt form their very foundation, and not only that, but when we attempt to support the different efforts by these sectors, groups and organisations, we are building on a corrupt foundation. And any nation built on a corrupt foundation will surely fall. What Jamaica needs is a foundation built upon the solid rock which is Jesus Christ.

Seek divine intervention

The Holy Bible states in the book of 1 Peter 5 vs 6, "Humble yourselves therefore in the mighty hand of God that he may exalt you in due time." I think the time is now ripe for national reconciliation, spearheaded by the Church of Jesus Christ.

I suggest that each pastor/church leader come together as one body and seek God's divine direction as to how to instruct the governing body, private sector and the different leading bodies of this nation. We, as people, need to openly confess our sins and really look to God for the solution to the many problems we face as a people.

I am, etc.,
