THE EDITOR, Sir:
IT IS with sadness and anger that I write this letter about the published report on April 19 of a 49-year-old woman given two years for aiding and abetting the rape of her 13-year-old daughter. I find it quite disturbing that such a crime has been committed, but what is more appalling is the sentence that was handed down to this monster of a mother.
A long road for her
My heart goes out to this little girl who went through this ordeal. The one person she must have thought she could trust to protect her, to love her, to hug her and be there for her, was now a vile and vicious stranger.
It will take a lot of counselling to bring her to a place where she will begin to heal and understand what happened and how it happened to her.
As for the mother, I don't think she should be entrusted with her children or any other children for the rest of her life.
I am, etc.,
