The Editor, Sir:

I attempted to reach an employee of the Cuba Eye Care Department of the ministry of health by phone last week to seek assistance for my grandmother, but the phones rang without an answer for the entire two days.

Finally, I got a chance to speak to a worker at the ministry of health who told me that everybody in that department and on the programme was terminated with immediate effect by the political head of the programme.

No mistakes please

I would hope that the information received is inaccurate as it would be very painful if after the light-bulb scandal the current Government makes the same mistake with such a good programme, striking the final blow to the relations with the two countries.
