The Editor, Sir:
I have a question for everyone. Since the ruling about Vaz and Dabdoub, the question arises regarding the past 46 years of governance and how many other dual citizenship persons have served in Parliament.
My question to you and your colleagues: Would any law proposed or passed by such a person in the past be null and void as they were not legally allowed to be members of parliament? What would that do to the laws of this country? A real good exercise and research project. I want to know and the people of Jamaica have a right to know as well. Any precedents in the Privy Council for this?
This would entail determining if any other person who served in government had dual citizenship and then determining if that person's role in government was key to a decision or law. Would their action/inactions have caused a change in history if they were not there?
I am relatively certain that many of our serving politicians and government employees have or had dual citizenship. A real problem for the people of Jamaica right now!
I am, etc.,
