Melbourne Kangaroos bounced back from a first innings deficit to beat Kingston Tigers by 25 runs in the fourth round Jamaica Super Cup feature cricket match at Sabina Park yesterday.
In a low-scoring encounter, scores were Melbourne Kangaroos 125 (Damion Henry 38, Dwayne Thompson 27, Nehemiah Perry six for 22, Brendon Nash two for 26); and 125. Kingston Tigers 140 (Domain Wilson 31, Marvin Darlington 28, Yanick Elliott five for 32 and Nikita Miller four for 46); and 86.
Resuming at 73 for three, the Kangaroos were again restricted to a small total as Perry bagged 4-17 to complete a match all of 10 for 39. Henry again topscored with 36, while Donovan Pagon made 29. Kerry Scott supported Perry with two wickets for seven runs.
Needing 111 runs to secure victory, the Tigers were skittled out for 86 by paceman Damion Jacobs, who took five for 26 and Elliot, who grabbed four for 27.
At the Trelawny Stadium: The Trelawny Buccaneers won first innings points from Manchester Lions.
Final scores: Trelawny 276 (Lorenzo Ingram 106, Barbadian Floyd Reifer 83): Donovan Sinclair 5-56; and 155 for six when bad light stopped play. Manchester Lions 206.
Replying to the Buccaneers' 276, the Lions made a spirited bid but fell 70 runs short.
Former West Indies pacer Dwight Washington ripped through the Lions batting line-up, taking five for 41. David Powell (42) and Ziggy Levy (37) scored most runs for the Lions.
When the Buccaneers batted a second time, Barbadian Kurt Wilkinson (34), Reifer (31) and Ingram (22) pushed their lead to 225.
Bad light
The Buccaneers were 155 for six when bad light stopped play. Levy claimed two for 44 and Neive McNally two for 28.
At Chedwin Park: St. Elizabeth Shakes gained first innings points over the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF). Batting first the Shakes made 185 (Wayne Simpson 32 not out, Alton Beckford 28; Kamal Dennis five for 55) and 195 for three declared, Damion Ebanks 101 not out, Shawn Findlay 56. JDF 165 ( Avroy Harris 51, Howard Copeland 31, Beckford five for 35, Simpson three for 35) and 153 for seven (Barriston Reid 71: Ainsley Goffe two for 25 and Simpson two for 43).
At Alpart: St Catherine Cricket Club defeated Westmoreland by an innings and 141 runs.
Scores: St Catherine 333 for five declared (Keith Hibbert 82, Danza Hyatt 77 and Barbadian Dwayne Smith 75). Westmoreland 116 (Odean Brown two for 20, Gavin Wallace two for 11); and 76 (Brown five for 11).
